Life is a rollercoaster

I had my first child three years ago, a wonderful little daughter, sweeter than I could ever have imagined. After only three weeks she was sleeping through the nights and while awake she was always happy and content. She was a dream baby. So, greedy me wanted more of this sweetness and when little Naomi was just nine months old I fell pregnant again - yes, intentionally. This time there were two babies and yes, we were a bit shocked at first, but happy too! Out came two demanding boys, nothing like their sister... but equally adorable.

Today Naomi is (hopefully) just over her tantrum-phase, but Wicked Max and Cheeky Bob are just about to enter it. Getting through the day is a new challenge, starting at 5 AM, every morning, after about four hours of sleep (on a good day). I love my kids more than anything, being a mom is the best thing ever, but yeah... it's not exactly a walk in the park.

In this blog I will share my thoughts on motherhood, let you in on some tips, tricks and secrets, and hopefully get connected with some of you other tiger mamas out there!

Difference Between Sweat and Sweat

4 Nov 2021

Raising two boys who are like a mix between a tornado and a blender on steroids is no walk in the park. I love them, and also my daughter, to the moon and back but the days they don´t make me sweat like a long tailed cat in a room full or rocking chairs are easily counted on one hands fingers!

But lately I have noticed another kind of sweating, not related to my kids and their endavours. It came creeping up on me and from having to dry my hands on my pants from time to time I now have to carry paper towels all the time to wipe my hands that are wet as a pair of children socks on a rainy day.

Not caused by heat or exercise

The sweat is just there for no reason and of course I went to see a doctor. It turns out I have something called hyperhidrosis (yeah, say that fast 7 times if you can!) which means excessive sweating. I have no control over it in other words.

To my disappointment there is no cure for this condition I share with almost 3% of the wold population. But there are treatments that can reduce the problems! By using iontophoresis machine the problem can be something I can live with. It is a machine that send low current through the hands to give a long-term effect. This is definitely something I am going to do!

Positive Parenting Tips For Toddlers

29 Jul 2021

It is fair to say that raising toddlers is no easy task. I have discovered a number of tips and tricks to help. It is essential to create a language-enriched environment and introduce your kids to the concept of choice. Keeping a positive emotional tone is critical.

How can they grow so fast?

16 Dec 2019

Just two months ago I bought a whole new wardrobe for Max and Bob. We're talking hoodies, sweat pants, t-shirts, socks and shoes. Now they have outgrown them. Naomi never grew this fast, she usually wears her clothes for about six-nine months before it is time to update her wardrobe. These little guys are freaks of nature. I have started buying some clothes second-hand because buying new stuff every other month gets really expensive.

Do you buy kids' clothes second-hand?

Time to learn the kids how to ski

7 Nov 2019

Whole my life I have been skiing. My parents taught me really early how to ski, and we often took trips to different ski resorts. I want to do the same for my kids. So that’s why I have booked us all a trip in November. I need to buy some stuff, for me as well as the kids. I wonder how to choose ski boots? I saw a site on internet, it is called Freeride. They have good guides on gear. So maybe I need to read about it. I guess I will buy my kids gear on like a second-hand shop or so. They are still growing. I also need new skis, cause my old ones are gone missing. I guess I have misplaced them when we moved last time.

Looking forward to our trip

I am really looking forward to this trip we are going to take. It has been to long ago since I was on a ski trip. It seemed the right thing to do, to wait until the kids got a bit older. Now they are in the right age to learn how to ski. I hope they will enjoy it as much as I did when I was a kid, and as I do now as well. If they like it, maybe we can do this to a tradition every year.

Whatever works

20 Mar 2019

I am a perfectionist, at least I used to be. These days I live more by the whatever works-philosophy. I started working part time a couple of months ago, after having been home with my kids for about three years. By then Naomi was three and the little tyrants were almost two. They settled well into daycare and I got that welcome relief of a few hours every day in adult company. Work feels like a break, honestly!

Today we are having pancakes with berries for dinner because that's something they'll all eat. Whatever works, right! (No, they sure won't look as fancy as the ones in the picture here..!)
